Two Port Network Models

Thevenin's theorem is used to model circuits with one port, Figure 54, where

v = vthev - i Rthev . (66)

You can think of vthev and Rthev as parameters for the one port network. Norton's theorem gives a different set of parameters, inorton and Rnorton.

Now consider the two port network of Figure 55. There are many ways of modelling the relationships amoung v1, i1, v2 and i2, each model corresponds to a type of two port network model. We will look at impedance and hybrid parameter models, but you should know that there are other types as well.
