Message from the Technical Programme Committee

AusCTW is now a well-established event in our local research community, attracting contributions and delegates from all telecommunications related research organisations in Australia. This year has seen 48 full papers submitted, with 30 papers accepted following reviews by at least three independent national and international experts per paper. The accepted authors were from 23 institutions over 5 countries. Papers were reviewed based on a 5 point scoring system using EDAS (Editor's Assistant) following international best practice such as that used in IEEE Globecom and IEEE ICC.

An important component of AusCTW is the opportunity for researchers to present material in the relatively informal format of posters. Both peer-reviewed and non-reviewed work may be presented this way (non-reviewed work does not appear in the proceedings). This is an excellent forum for research students, senior and junior researchers alike to actively interact and build foundations for future collaboration. We encourage all to make the most of the technical content in the poster sessions.

As AusCTW was started as a workshop for students and early-career researchers, it is an important goal to have the majority of research students and young researchers in our community attending the event. Therefore the registration fee for AusCTW has traditionally been low compared to other events. Keeping the registration fee low is only possible with dedicated sponsorship, which AusCTW has always been able to attract over the years. This year, we are grateful to NICTA, CUBIN, CSIRO ICT Centre, ITR and ACoRN. Further sponsorships are likely, but were not yet confirmed when the proceedings went to press.

In addition, many volunteers have devoted time and effort to upholding the quality of the workshop at all levels. The TPC wish to thank all the reviewers for assuring a continuing high international standard of our proceedings. Andrew Beck is particularly acknowledged for his efforts in automating the process of compiling the Book-of-Abstracts for the poster sessions; an effort which will ease the process for years to come. Finally we thank Dr. Belinda Chiera and the rest of the organising committee for administering other aspects of the workshop.

We hope you find your participation in AusCTW enjoyable and rewarding.
