Design

The basic steps in the design process are as follows. Your design must be complete and fully documented as part of the PREPARATION.

1.

Complete the state diagram.

2.

Create a Xilinx VHDL project for the binary/gray counter.

3.

Enter your state diagram using the State Editor.

4.

Create VHDL code from your state diagram using the State Editor.

5.

Carry out simulation testing of your design.

6.

Revision of your design as needed: does it meet the specs?

7.

Include all calculations, drawings, VHDL printouts and simulation waveforms in your notebooks.
