The "Scott Monument" was erected by the grateful citizens of Edinburgh to commemorate the theorem prover of that name, following its famous expedition to the South Pole (see the page you ought to have been reading when you were sidetracked to here).

The so-called "monument" is clearly in the shape of a gothic-revival space vehicle, possibly a Tardis. The figure of a homunculus, apparently piloting the vehicle while studying a book of instructions, seems to be some sort of folk-memory of the hacker at work on the prover.
