Asserted Levels

Logic signals are often used to initiate actions.

A signal is asserted   if it is active.

A signal is unasserted if it is inactive.

The labeling of signals reflects this, for example:

LOAD	active H
$\overline{RESET}$	active L
$RD/\overline{WR}$	bistate

where bistate   means

$$\begin{array}{l} H \to RD \ {\rm asserted} \\ L \to WR \ {\rm asserted} \end{array}$$
