- Honours Students (Final Year Projects):
- I am always interested in finding final
year students to work on
interesting projects. This could also include working over the
summer
holidays on a summer research scholarship.
- See research topics for possible new
projects
- Current final year student project is:
- Design of 3G Cellular Network Simulator
- The project aim is to develop a
simulator for 3G cellular
systems to analyse system performance. The simulator will be created
using a modular, evolutionary approach beginning with a function to
simulate an instantaneous point to point link. This kernel function may
then be mapped across multiple users and base stations to evaluate
network performance. In addition to the primary work product, the
project will involve a variety of research and the
creation of supporting document. The project will require research into
3G
cellular network standards and their measures of performance.
Additionally, a review of existing network simulators will provide a
basis for the system design. Supporting documentation will likely
include research results alongside design documents and user manuals.
The project will involve software design and development, most
likely in C and MATLAB.
