Power System Design

1.0 Steady State Power

The estimated steady state power for Kambara's computers, sensors, and communications equipment is 46.3W. (See Table 3-1, below). We will design for a capacity of 60W.

Lights, which are not currently incorporated in the design are estimated at 2 * 12V * 2.5A = 60W (i.e. 30W Halogen bulbs). This may be quite insufficient to illuminate some underwater environments.

2.0 Thruster Power

The theoretical peak power for the thrusters is 3600W. The practical peak power is only 1920W. Nominally, there is no need to have all thrusters full-on so the working power is (0.25 * 2 + 0.05 * 2 + 0.05 * 2) * 24V * 15A = 252W.
