I am a Senior Lecturer in the Research School of Engineering, College of Engineering & Computer Science (CECS), The Australian National University, Canberra, Australia. My research area is Communications and Signal processing. I am also a Senior Member, IEEE, USA and a Senior Fellow of HEA, UK.

My current research interests include:

  • Wireless power transfer and energy harvesting
  • Wireless ad-hoc, sensor and device to device networks
  • Synchronization and channel estimation
  • Heterogeneous networks
  • Stochastic geometry
  • Distance distributions and connectivity
  • Signal processing for spherical and biomedical applications

05/2017: Former PhD student Jing Guo wins the 2016 Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-Financed Students Abroad [CECS news]

04/2017: One PhD scholarship available [allocated already].

09/2016: Our 2013 IEEE TWC paper "Relaying protocols for wireless energy harvesting and information processing" has been awarded the 2016 IEEE ComSoc AP Outstanding Paper Award.

07/2016: Our paper "Performance Comparison of Device-to-Device Mode Selection Schemes" by D. Marshall, S. Durrani, J. Guo and N. Yang was awarded runner up prize in the IEEE Australia Council 2015 Student Paper Contest in the undergraduate student paper category.

04/2016: The ACT Chapter of the IEEE Signal Processing and Communications Societies has been awarded IEEE Signal Processing Society's Chapter Certification, in recognition of the chapter activities (valid for 4 years from 1 January 2017 through 31 December 2020).

06/2015: Mathematica code available here for our distance distributions in arbitrarily shaped polygons with arbitrary reference point paper. [Anu News]

02/2015: I am joining the Editorial Board of the IEEE Transactions on Communications as an Editor.

01/2015: I was the Chair of the ACT Chapter of the IEEE Signal Processing and Communications Societies in 2015-2016.

12/2014: Our paper "Characterization of Aggregate Interference in Arbitrarily-shaped Underlay Cognitive Networks" by J. Guo, S. Durrani and X. Zhou was selected as one of Best 50 papers at Globecom 2014.

05/2013: Mathematica and Matlab code available here for our distance distribution in regular polygon paper.
