Pictures of bow tie antennas used to extend the range of wireless lan cards

Sorry about any fuzziness, I need a better macro lens. I'll also resave these a little smaller when i get a chance.
The prototype antenna was put together with the driven element attached by hot melt glue. This makes reattaching coax difficult so in the second one I filed off the copper to isolate the attachment region, which meant I could solder both elements to the upright.


In this picture you can see the dipole pickup which worked surprisingly well to transfer the signal from the inbuilt antenna to the coax and then to the bowtie antenna (and vice versa). It's particularly amazing when you consider that the inbult antenna has such an unusual structure (see the webgear mods pictures).
