Resistors

As expected resistors also behave in strange ways at RF. The figure shows a simplistic equivalent circuit of a resistor. There are two inductors in series with the resistance and the whole circuit is shunted by a stray capacitance. We are assuming that the resistor has dimensions that are much smaller than a wavelength.

Ex. 3. Assuming that C = .3 pF and L = 10 nH, use MATLAB to compute the impedance of a resistor from DC to 1 GHz for values of R from 1&Omega - 1M&Omega . Plot out curves for up to values of the nominal resistance. Are there any ranges of resistor value which closely approximate their DC value?

What can you conclude about low versus high value resistors?
