Information for Potential PhD Students
If you are interested in doing a PhD in probabilistic machine
learning at the Australian National University (ANU) under my
supervision
please first read the
Graduate
Research
Info. If you pass the self assesment, feel free to contact me via
email attaching the pre-application Expression
of
Interest
Form. Do not forget to attach your CV and a copy of your academic
transcripts. (All documents must be in pdf format.)
You must have a strong math background and good programming skills.
I will support your application as long as (a) you are indeed an
outstanding student and (b) your project proposal is aligned with
my research interest (preferably in the areas of graphical models,
nonparametric Bayesian methods, Gaussian processes, active learning of
user preferences, Bayesian recommender systems).
You will have the opportunity to apply for scholarships
but you will
need
to start your application well
before 31st August (preferably 2 months before).
These are a few examples of research projects I am currently offering at the ANU but you are welcome to propose your own:
